Hebrew School

Grades 3-7: Sunday Mornings, 8:30 – 9:15 am

Hebrew Options for Students in Grades 3-7:

Wednesday afternoons virtual (see registration form for times)
One-on-one Online (To be arranged in consultation with the rabbi. Additional fees apply)

Pre-registered early drop-off Grades K-2: 8:30 – 9:15am

Five Grade levels this year: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7 and a new program for students in grades 8-12.
Grades K – 7: Sundays, 9:30am – Noon
Senior School: Grades 8-12: Twice/month on Sundays, beginning in October, 12:30-2:00 pm; (see registration form for dates

Teachers

We have wonderful new Religious School staff, lead by Rabbi Sobel and Janet Liss, the Religious School Director. We look forward to introducing you to them on September 10th. We selected enthusiastically creative teachers who share our vision of Jewish education and learning. They are equally delighted to connect with your children and can’t wait to bring Judaism and Hebrew to life here at TBS.

Curriculum

We are continuing to utilize Shalom Learning’s inclusive, values-based curriculum which provides well-organized, fun lessons with movement, interaction, and project-based experiences, covering both Judaic and Hebrew education. TBS teachers will expand your child’s connection further with innovative and joyful games and experiments through music, art, cooking, and even Hebrew yoga. Each week you’ll receive a letter from your child’s teacher sharing what they learned and giving you open-ended questions for you to start a meaningful conversation with your child.

Additionally, we will include multiple intergenerational, family educational days throughout the year. The goal is to inspire “joyful Jewish living and learning” for the entire family.

Madrichim

Students in grades 8-12 are invited to apply to be student teachers, madrichim, in our Religious School. This will entail special leadership training and skill-building sessions with our clergy and the Religious School Director. Please call the TBS Office for more information (714) 628-4600.

Students with Special Needs

Judaism teaches that each of us is created b’tzelem Elohim, in the image of God, and that each of us is to be valued for our own individual, unique abilities. Guided by this tradition, the Temple Beth Sholom Religious School will act with sensitivity and work to the best of its ability to provide a positive experience for every child. Accommodations and support, in collaboration with parents, will be implemented within our means and within the structure of our program on a case-by-case basis.
